Botox and Derma Fillers
BOTOX® and other fillers and injectibles are skin rejuvenation cosmetic procedures designed to
reduce the signs of aging by diminishing frown lines, forehead creases, and other facial lines.
Since its FDA approval in 2002, Botox injection has turned into one of the most widely
performed cosmetic procedures in the world and the No. 1 non-surgical cosmetic treatment in
the US.
BOTOX® is a purified protein injection that temporarily reduces or eliminates frown lines,
forehead creases, crow’s feet near the eyes, and thick bands in the neck. Botox injections
soften and relax wrinkles by preventing facial muscles from contracting.
Visible results of Botox Cosmetic are usually seen within 3–5 days, however, it can take up to 2
weeks to see full results; the effects may last up to 18 months.
Dermal filler is a cosmetic filler that corrects moderate to severe facial folds or wrinkles. It is a
clear gel that contains hyaluronic acid, a natural substance that already exists in the human
body.
Sun exposure, laughing, worrying and even smiling can lightly damage the tissues that make up
our faces.
Almost anyone may be a good candidate for injectable treatments such as BOTOX® or
Restylane®.
Collagen Stimulators are injected into the dermis or subcutaneous layer, filling the spaces
where collagen has been lost. The newly produced collagen provides a structural framework to
hold hyaluronic acid and elastin and helps restore the dermis. Hyaluronic acid attracts water
molecules to the dermis and restores skin moisture. Elastin provides elasticity and helps the
skin stretch.
Dermal filler is made of a biodegradable, non-animal stabilized hyaluronic acid (NASHA).
Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance found in all living organisms and provides volume and
fullness to the skin.
